Free text tool

Online notepad

Write a note directly in your browser. It saves locally as you type and can be reopened on this device in the same browser profile.

Plain text. Maximum 100,000 JavaScript string units; some emoji count as two.

Opening the saved browser note… If nothing happens, enable JavaScript and reload this page.

This browser, device and profile only. Private browsing, cleared browser data or the browser’s own clean-up may erase the note. No sync or backup. Do not use this as the sole copy of important content. The tool does not send note text to the server.

How to use the notepad

Type or paste plain text into the editor. Each change saves when browser storage works; check the status below the field. Reload to continue from the last saved version. The same note is available on every language version of this site.

Keep a copy of important notes

Download a .txt file before leaving the browser if the note matters. Local storage works only in this browser, on this device and profile. Private browsing, clearing browser data or the browser’s own clean-up may remove it. There is no account, sync or backup here, so do not use this as the sole copy of important content. The tool does not send editor text to the server. If the note is open in two tabs, each saved change also appears in the other tab. A tab holding changes it could not save warns you instead of overwriting the saved note.

The limit is 100,000 JavaScript string units; some emoji count as two. The download is plain text without formatting. “Clear note” asks for confirmation and removes only the saved browser note, not files you already downloaded.

Questions and answers

Does the notepad save automatically?
Yes. After each edit, the notepad tries to save the text in your browser’s localStorage. The status tells you whether it worked. If storage is unavailable or full, new changes remain only in the open tab until they can be saved.
Can I open my note on another device?
No. The note is available only in the same browser on the same device and browser profile. There is no sync or backup. Private browsing, clearing browser data or the browser’s own clean-up may erase it; Safari, for example, can remove local data for a site you have not used for a while. Download a .txt copy of important notes.
Is my note sent to Spirelight?
No. This notepad reads and writes the note locally in your browser. Download creates a local .txt file. The tool does not send note text to the server.
How do I download or delete my note?
Choose “Download .txt” to save a text file. Choose “Clear note” and confirm to remove the saved note from this browser. Clearing does not delete a file you already downloaded.
