Random wheel for names and choices

A random wheel picks one name or option from your list. Add one choice per line, then spin to see the winner.

Enter one choice per line. Edit the list before the next spin.

0 of 24 choices maximum

Blank lines are ignored. Every duplicate gets its own number and gives that text another chance. Capitalisation counts as different.

This tab only: the list and winner are not saved and are lost on reload or when you close the tab.

No winner yet.

How to use the random wheel

Enter one name or choice per line, edit the list, then select Spin the wheel. The numbered sectors match the list below the wheel, and the winner also appears as text. Spin again with the same list, or change it for another round.

It can pick a presentation order, a question for an exercise, or a low-stakes activity. If you want to draw without replacement, remove the previous winner's line yourself before spinning again.

How entries are counted

Blank lines are skipped and spaces at either end of a line are removed. Identical lines after trimming each occupy a separate sector, increasing that text's chance of winning. Capitalisation is treated as different. Use 2–24 non-empty entries, up to 80 characters each and 4,000 characters in the input overall. Some combined emoji count as more than one character.

Randomness and limits

The browser's cryptographic random source selects a valid entry number. The animation shows that selection; it does not make the draw. With unique entries, each has the same chance on a single spin. This tool cannot prove that a process was fair or independently auditable: the list can be changed and no verifiable draw record is kept. Use an agreed, auditable process for high-stakes decisions.

Entries and results stay in this browser tab. The tool does not save or send them to Spirelight. Reloading or closing the tab clears them.

Questions and answers

How do I use the random wheel?
Enter 2–24 names or options, one per line, and select Spin the wheel. The sector under the red pointer matches the numbered list, and the winner appears as text. You can spin again or edit the list.
What happens to blank lines and duplicates?
Blank lines are ignored and outer spaces are removed. Identical lines after trimming each take a separate sector, so that text gets more chances. Capitalisation makes entries different.
Is every spin fair?
A browser cryptographic random source selects each valid line number without modulo bias. Duplicate entries give the same text more sectors. This is not an independently verifiable fairness record and should not alone decide high-stakes matters.
Are my names or results saved?
No. The tool keeps them in this browser tab and does not send them to Spirelight. Reloading or closing the tab clears them.
