How to use the countdown timer
A timer counts down from a duration you set and tells you when it reaches zero. Enter hours, minutes and seconds above. For a 25-minute work session, enter 0 hours, 25 minutes and 0 seconds, then select Start timer. Pause stops the countdown; Resume continues from the remaining time; Reset returns to the selected duration.
- 1
Set a duration
Use whole numbers: up to 99 hours and up to 59 minutes or seconds. Choose at least one second in total. - 2
Start the timer
The remaining time is displayed as hours:minutes:seconds. You can keep the tab open while working. - 3
Pause or reset
Pause saves the remaining time. Resume continues it; Reset returns to the original duration.
Sound and limitations
You can choose a short sound when the timer finishes. Sound starts off, and your browser or device may block playback even when you enable it. A visible completion message is also available to screen readers. Your device settings determine whether you hear the sound.
The timer measures elapsed time rather than counting interval ticks. That keeps a delayed screen update from adding time to the countdown. The alert itself may still arrive late if the browser throttles a background tab or the device sleeps. For a time-critical appointment or exam, use your device’s clock or another dependable alarm.
The page needs to stay open. Closing or refreshing it cancels the countdown and its alert; the selected duration is not saved between visits. You do not need an account to use this timer.
Plan an interview or focused work session
You can use the timer to leave room for follow-up questions and a closing summary during an interview. It does not record the conversation. If you record separately and need a text draft afterwards, see Spirelight’s interview transcription. You choose whether to upload the recording and review the draft against the audio yourself.
- Leave a buffer before the end of the session.
- Pause when the conversation is interrupted.
- Check your device clock if the exact end time matters.
